Tell New York legislators: Protect tropical forests

From the mangrove forests of Indonesia to the Amazon rainforest of South America, tropical deforestation is rapidly erasing biodiversity havens and natural carbon sinks. Every tree cut down means less habitat for wildlife and more carbon emissions in the atmosphere.

Many products we use every day come from tropical forests, but the way we produce them is recklessly unsustainable for these critical ecosystems.

The New York Tropical Deforestation-Free Procurement Act would direct state agencies and departments to buy forest products -- like paper, coffee and palm oil -- only from vendors that don't contribute to deforestation. Tell your legislators to support the act now.
